The word doula comes from a Greek word that means "a woman who serves" or "female helper." The role and purpose of a doula is to come alongside a pregnant mom to both physically and emotionally support and serve her during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
My name is Holly Arroyo and I am a certified birth doula. I live in Caldwell, Idaho with my husband, three children, backyard chickens, and our three-legged cat. I have always had an interest in pregnancy and childbirth, but after having my own babies and birth experiences, it became something I felt passionate about and called to serve in. Having experienced three very different births myself (c-section, medical induction & fast, unmedicated birth) I've learned how having the right support, education, and preparation can make all the difference in your birth experience. I hope to bring a sense of peace and confidence to pregnant mamas and their families so that they can have the birth experience they desire to have. I provide compassionate, attentive care and support throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum- helping you navigate all that comes your way and to advocate for what is best for you and your baby. I will come alongside you and your family to provide education, resources, and emotional/physical/spiritual support. Whether a c-section is best for you, you desire a home birth, or your goal is to achieve a VBAC, I'm here for you! As a doula and as a mother myself, it is very important to me to offer comprehensive care which includes options for the type of support you want and need. As a mama who's had different birth experiences, I want to be available to other mamas in a variety of circumstances and birth settings. Some doulas choose not to serve at hospital births, but I extend my services to wherever you want or need to give birth. Hospitals, birth centers, and at home. I will serve you well, hold space for you, and support your preferences.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters."
-Psalm 23:1-2
